New stainless-steel flatware should be washed by hand for the first few weeks of use. Use warm water, mild soap and a soft sponge and dry immediately. Once the stainless steel has been conditioned by washing, it can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Use a mild detergent; avoid lemon scented detergents. Place flatware in the basket with handles down and don't arrange items by type for more effective cleaning. Remove the flatware from the dishwasher as soon as the program has finished, or open the dishwasher to allow steam to escape, to prevent corrosion.
